Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality instruction in Economics, preparing students for A-Level examinations while fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of economic principles in a STEM-focused educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction

  1. Plan and deliver engaging and interactive Economics lessons in alignment with the A-Level curriculum.
  2. Develop and utilize instructional materials and methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  3. Integrate STEM concepts and real-world applications into Economics teaching where relevant.
  4. Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations.
  5. Provide individual support to students to enhance understanding and academic performance.

Curriculum Development

  1. Design lesson plans and schemes of work aligned with the school’s academic standards and the A-Level syllabus.
  2. Regularly review and update curriculum materials to ensure relevance and innovation.
  3. Organize and supervise practical activities, such as case studies, simulations, and group projects.

Student Mentorship

  1. Guide and motivate students to achieve academic excellence and develop a passion for Economics.
  2. Provide academic counseling and advice to students pursuing Economics-related higher education and careers.
  3. Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills through class discussions and debates.

Administrative Duties

  1. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  2. Participate in departmental and staff meetings to contribute to the school’s academic strategies.
  3. Prepare and submit lesson plans, progress reports, and assessments in a timely manner.

Professional Development

  1. Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in teaching Economics.
  2. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or a related field. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  2. Postgraduate qualification or certification in Teaching Methodology.
  3. Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably at A-Level or equivalent.
  4. Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum is an added advantage.
